About

"Above all, remember that you must build your life as if it were a work of art.”
― Abraham Heschel

Over the last 30 years and 3000 gigs I’ve been on a strange and mysterious adventure and as hard as it is to keep rockin’ & rollin’ in this crazy world of making art, I find the above quote a poignant reminder that we can become the works of art, slowly chiselling away to reach a core understanding of who we are. I still have moments when I’m writing, recording and singing that fill me up, moments where I well up from the inside and it’s these moments that allow me to discover something new about myself and keep going.

At this point in my life and career, as I begin to release my eighth record “One Ray of Light at a Time”, I want to try something other than the algorithmic chains of music streaming systems to connect directly with my listeners. I'm building a new home where we can meet in the music and maybe together find some new meaning and discovery. The image on the new album cover reminds me that in times of darkness and struggle, I am held. It also brings to mind another image of the fiercely independent singer songwriter Amanda Palmer holding out her palm for support on her artistic journey. What could have been construed as begging, became a bonding with her fan base. And that is what makes this all so exciting! I don’t know what I’m going to say, write, sing or play next. There’ll be spontaneity during regular live streams where you can witness some of my bravest mistakes, maybe even collaborate or inspire a new direction in my artistic journey. Join me in this new experiment by subscribing to any of the “Heartfelt”, “Soupsong”, or “Mystery” tiers as I roll out my upcoming album. Who knows what works of art might come from this place!

Meet you in the music,
David
